SoReal VR Gives Its Beijing Venue a Screen That Disappears

Publish Time: 2016-10-10     Origin: Site

SoReal VR's first venue in Wangfujing, Beijing, is built around floor-to-ceiling glazing, leaving the immersive zones with no surface for content. Nanhai Display installed its transparent projection film F80 across approximately 60 m² of glass, turning that glazing into a projection surface. The solution carries full-motion content while remaining clear to look through when the projectors are off. The result is a more immersive and more adaptable venue interior.

Service

Our goal is to work closely with partners to help customers achieve greater success in multiple fields.

The Challenge

SoReal VR's first venue in Wangfujing, Beijing, features large glazed surfaces across the 【immersive zones and the street-facing frontage】. This results in content having nowhere to live unless a solid wall is built, and a frontage that goes dark to the street once the immersive scenes stop running. The challenge was to give the venue a projection surface without boxing in the floor plan or losing the glass to the street.

Technical Support

Nanhai Display installed its transparent projection film F80 across approximately 60 m² of glazing in October 2016. The film carries projected content—bright and readable at oblique viewing angles when the projectors run, clear and see-through when they do not—without the need for a built screen, structural work, or a blacked-out room.

The Result

Immersive content on glass and an open venue that still faces the street. Nanhai Display helps the venue keep its sightlines and its floor plan while giving projected content a surface to land on, supporting a different use of the same 60 m² across the operating day.
